The double passage footstep bearing with revolving pivot is used in air tankers made up of tractors and trailers configured with the fuelling unit located behind the cabin and the fuelling platform situated at the rear of the vehicle.
The footstep bearing-pivot complex allows to link the trailer to the tractor for towing and linking the suction pipe between the tank and the unit, and the platform feeding during fuelling operation.

CHARACTERISTICS:
The footstep bearing has 4 features:
- Upper manifold inside the 304 stainless steel tank
- Welding flange in inox steel or light alloy (depending on the tank material)
- Reversing joint made of light alloy
- External lower manifold in 304 stainless steel

The main element is the reversing joint made up of aligned tubes which are coaxially provided with reciprocal reversing movement; it has 2 double-manifolded bodies with an extremity flange each, and a diameter each which enables them to be fit one into the other after inserting 2 graphited steel bushes where it has been interposed a sphere rim
between them as a bushing. This rim allows the
rotation between the part linked to the fixed pie and the reversing one.
The reversing joint is such to guarantee a high level of reliability, mostly as far as the ability to keep all the time in perfect axes the linked parts of the tube.

The shock absorber is designed and built for the installation on vehicles used in the refuelling field; it avoids over-pressure problems which may arise during operations.

Nuova MA.NA.RO. shock absorber is planned and built to store and return the pressurised liquid at any time. Its operation is based on the difference of compressibility between gas and fluid material.

The shock absorber is preloaded with air at a pressure P; when this pressure is outweighed in the equipment (caused by the sudden closing of a valve), the air is compressed in order to release the exceeding pressure gradually so that brisk pressure variations in the equipment are avoided.

CHARACTERISTICS:
NUOVA MA.NA.RO. shock absorber is composed by:

- High resistance steel cylinder with an internal protection treatment;
- Aluminium piston with gaskets in VITON;
- Pneumatic connection complete with gauge and tap.
The shock absorber is built according to ASME regulations.

The elevating platform is suitable for installation on any type of vehicle used for aircraft refuelling.

CHARACTERISTICS:
The platform, with CE certification, is suitable to be used with N. 2 persons on it (max load 250 kgs), and it has got the following characteristics:

- Operation floor minimum size 1,00 x 2,20 m
- Grilled walkable floor incorporated in the mobile part
- Fixed protection handrail 1,00 m high and kick strip 150 mm high
- Safety device which avoids the quick lowering in case of pipes break down.
- Access ladder
- The platform has a 3,20 metres extension (i.e. if installed on a dispenser the working floor reaches a height superior to 4.50 metres).
- It is possible to maintain the platform in all intermediate positions.
- The lifting and lowering controls are fitted on the platform.

The Nuova Ma.Na.Ro. Deadman Timer System is a unique system designed to prevent any possible operator negligence, since a timed deactivation with outlet predisposition for visual or sound alarm device connection is provided.

CHARACTERISTICS:
The Deadman TIMER is operated by a intrinsicaly safety NAMUR sensor (EEX-ia) incorporated in the handle.

The Nuova Ma.Na.Ro Deadman Timer System controls the pneumatic selenoid valve which in turn controls the deadman valve.

An intrinsic safety-barrier incorporated in TIMER Unit feeds the sensor which controls the timer circuit designed to deactivate approximately every 3 minutes.
Flow would then stop after this period unless the operator generates a reset signal.
To reset the TIMER it is sufficient to release and press again the handle.
In order to avoid automatic flow shut-down in normal operation, a prompt sound is generated
from the TIMER unit 30 seconds before the interruption. This signal is used to generate either an audible or visual prompt , or both, so that the operator is reminded to reset.
The timer unit is fitted with three control leds to check the right functioning.When the deadman is activated the visual signal is triggered in a fixed way for 120 seconds, then it flashes for further 60 seconds all this works for a max time of 180 seconds.
The sound warning device is designed to give a discontinuous signal that is activated from the 120th second.
To reset the TIMER it is sufficient to release and to press again the handle within ½ second. Releasing the handle for more than ½ second the TIMER stops the delivery.
A reset signal can be generated at any time during the TIMER cycle whether prompted or not.

The Nuova Ma.Na.Ro electric Timer Deadman is very easily and quickly installed.
All the connections are routed to and from the Timer unit and the deadman installation can be made either inside the vehicle cab or in an external electrically safe area.

The Timer unit dimensions are very restrained:
- Height: 60 mm
- Width: 15 mm
- Length: 140 mm

- Ensure constant control of fuelling operation;

EQUIPMENT AND OPERATIONS:
At the moment the Nuova Ma.Na.Ro. Deadman Timer System can be supplied together with the following components:
- one inlet TIMER unit for one control handle;
- two inlet TIMER units for two control handles. This version is used when the Customer wants to couple the electric deadman system installed in the refuelling station with additional handle fitted of 1,5 mt spiral cable to be mounted on the refuelling platform;
- handle with sensor fitted with 15 mt spiral extendible cable;
- waterproof alarm for sound warning, IP66;
- visual warning light explosion proof, green colour;
- visual warning tight inflammable vapour-proof light green colour, to install in open area, IP66;
- visual warning miniatured light, green colour, to install in the refuelling platform.

Wireless deadman timer system

For many years it has been standard practice to use a deadman system for aircraft refuelling, which automatically stops the flow of fuel when the operator releases a hand held switch. The switch is normally electric and is fed through a current limiting device via an extensible coiled suzie cable.

However, there are some problrm with this system. The suzie cables are not always long enough and therefore tend to be over stretched. This results in premature breakdown of the core which normally causes the system to fail closed, but there have been incidents where the result has been a short circuit, rendering the deadman system permanently operating, even when the switch is released. Also, it is now becoming more common for the refuelling operator to operate the aircraft fuel control panel whilst refuelling. This can require even longer suzie cables for underwing refuelling, or the use of a second suzie cable/switch mounted on the vehicle elevating platform when refuelling underwing wide bodied aircraft.

There is now a system available which helps overcome these problems, the Delta Wireless Deadman System.

Electronic interlock

The interlock is a microprocessor electronic system, fitted in the vehicle cab, which controls and signals the eventual anomalies in the positions of the mobile mechanical parts involved in the refuelling operations.

CHARACTERISTICS:
When the vehicle doesn’t carry out the refuelling, the interlock continuously checks that the hatches, the hoses and all other components used in the refuelling are correctly housed in the rest position, showing on a liquid crystal display (LCD) the noticed anomalies.

If there is an irregular situation, besides the irregularity visualisation on the display, a flash lamp and a sound alarm, both placed in the driver cab, are activated and the vehicle remains braked.

If there are more than one irregular situation at the same time, the relative messages are automatically shown on the display unit, in a sequence one after the other.
If every thing is regular, on the display unit an “OK” message is shown.
The system is fitted with a sealed button which allows to override or to disengage the brakes, for example in case an immediate start is necessary.
The system is completely electronic and it replaces all the pneumatic parts previously used.
The condition survey of the mechanical parts which are checked is carried out through inductive proximity sensing devices, type NAMUR, certified EEX-d.
